The American Federation of Teachers, one of NYSUT’s national affiliates, will kick off a series of webinars on Wednesday to provide tips, advice and strategies on using the new Common Core curriculum in the classroom. The free webinar series, entitled “Common Core Confident,” will be presented through the AFT’s popular “Share My Lesson” program.
The one-hour webinars will start at 8 pm every Wednesday through Nov. 20. Wednesday’s presenter is Kenji Hakuta of Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education. He will address helping English Language Learners meet the new Common Core Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.
On Oct. 16, Charlotte Danielson, an internationally-recognized expert in curriculum development, will discuss how recent revisions to the Framework for Teaching intersect with the Common Core State Standards to promote stronger teaching.
NYSUT members may register for each event that they want to attend by going to the webinar’s registration page. The schedule will be updated regularly as speakers are confirmed. For more information, visit http://www.sharemylesson.com/webinars.
