Human rights activist and Shanker award winner Kerry Kennedy gave delegates a scoop Thursday night, sharing the news that NYSUT and the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights will be partnering on a new initiative — a video competition for student filmmakers that will commence in the next academic year.

As Ellen Schuler Mauk’s delegate badge makes clear, these credentials can read like road maps of union activism. Her badge indicates her role as a NYSUT Board member as well as president of the Faculty Association of Suffolk Community College.
