NYSUT stands – and walks – with Relay for Life

NYSUT members are noted for their generosity and activism on behalf of a good cause. Many have embraced their union’s sponsorship of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign in October. In June, with NYSUT President Karen Magee taking the lead in the Capital District, NYSUT will be out in force for the American Heart Association’s Heart Walks.

But, first, many NYSUT members are already signing up for the ACS’s Relay For Life. This worldwide campaign to end cancer takes place in communities across the nation — mostly throughout the month of May — and many New York public schools participate. If you are a team captain, team member or advisor for Relay For Life, NYSUT wants to know so we can celebrate your commitment. When you register on your individual Relay For Life website, make sure you select “NYSUT” from the drop-down menu of participating organizations. The ACS will share that information with us, though feel free to send us your photos and stories to our Facebook page.

Remember, when we walk together, we are bigger than cancer. The funds raised through the Relay for Life allow the American Cancer Society to help people in every community — providing free information and services and funding groundbreaking cancer research to save more lives.
