The New York State Teacher Retirement System is still looking for delegates from school districts across the state. Delegates elect teacher members to the Retirement Board and act as NYSTRS liaisons with employees. Employers are required to oversee the election of delegates and alternates and to report results to the NYSTRS.
The deadline for conducting an election is June 1 and results must be reported by July 1, so it’s important that districts submit names soon. Local presidents can go to www.nystrs.org to determine if their school districts have reported delegates to NYSTRS.
