SRP heads to Washington for summit on working families

Teacher aide Priscilla Smith is headed on Monday to Washington, D.C. to be part of  the White House Summit on Working Families.

Smith, an executive board member of the Frontier Central Employees Association, will share her experience as a dedicated teacher aide who loves her work supporting the educational goals of the students at Pinehurst Elementary school in Lake View, and about the hardships many working families in today’s economy face.

Smith holds down multiple jobs to make ends meet, and sees her husband only on weekends because he works hours away from home. Sadly, the Smith family’s story will resonate with many of NYSUT’s School-Related Professionals.

Smith said she is honored to participate in the summit and looks forward to sharing  her recommendations about what President Obama and Congress can do to help working men and women and their families.
