NYSUT recognizes creative forces that made rally great

NYSUT President Dick Iannuzzi gave enthusiastic shoutouts from the “One Voice United” rally stage to the creative individuals whose talent did so much to promote and give musical voice to the cause.

He recognized three local unions whose talented members created videos that have helped advance the rally:  Brian Higgins and Joe Karb from the Springville FA; Melissa Weatherwax and President Michelle Smead of the Averill Park TA; and Sheryl Delano of the Roundout Valley Federation of Teachers and SRPS.

The NYSUT president also led the vast crowd in applause for the talented musicians who performed at the rally: the Cohoes High School marching band, under the direction of NYUT member Kay Valle; students from the Valley Central High School music department led by NYSUT member Brian Ackley; NYSUT’s own Bryan Thomas, webmaster and singer/songwriter extraordinaire, on guitar; and WATTS on TAP, featuring lead singer and president of the Newark Valley Teachers Association Mike Harris.

Did anybody catch the name of the teacher who sang with Tom Chapin’s group? I think she was from Valley Central>
