It’s the most wonderful time of the year

Maceo Dubose Jr. emailed the news that the Guilderland Teachers Association raised over $1,000 and collected a van load of clothing and cleaning supplies. All the items were donated to the families in Rotterdam Junction through the Schalmont Teachers Association, whose president is Mary Beth Flatley. Way to go Guilderland!

Roseanne Mamo called in with the great news that the Sewanhaka Federation of Teachers raised $2,000 over the last few months. Through NYSUT’s Local Helping Locals program, they are sending the funds to Binghamton. The group raised the money through “dress down,” and “hats on” days.

I also heard that the Williamsville Teachers Association will be raising money on Saturday Jan. 7 with a Zumbathon. Zumba is so fun. Here’s a video that shows you can even do it wearing jeans and you don’t have to be coordinated, although of course that helps.

In Williamsville, the fundraiser will be at the Mill Middle School Gym on Mill Street (located between Main Street and Sheridan Drive) in between 9 and 11 a.m.  It’s $5 for students and $10 for adults.  Donations are also being accepted.  No dance ability is required and all ages are welcome, For more information, contact Janet Nadolny directly at 716-626-9875 or via e-mail at JNADOLNY@williamsvillek12.org
