Pink is more than a color

Happy October!

Yes, it’s time for autumn colors and since today marks the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, you know that means pink will be right up there.

Soon you’ll see football players wearing pink. I even saw pink garbage bags yesterday! Today I’m driving toward Binghamton to cover the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk there. I’m looking forward to meeting up with locals in that region. Here’s the slideshow from the last time I was there.

The American Cancer Society’s website points out that:

Pink is a sign of how far we’ve come in this fight and symbol of everything we do for survivors and their families.

Here’s a link to their web site to find out how donations to Making Strides save lives.

I know Binghamton, Vestal, Johnson City, Owego and surrounding areas have been devastated by floodwaters. Of course the forecast calls for rain. I’ve brought my NYSUT umbrella and perhaps even more important I’m bringing a lot of green and going to try to help the economy as much as possible. I’ll tweet the event using #makingstrides.
