And we ripped out walls and ceilings

The Schoharie TA has been coordinating efforts to clean homes in their village since Hurricane Irene’s rains devastated the community.
On the 12th day, homes still need floors, walls, ceilings ripped out. A team of volunteers from NYSUT’s Legislation Department brought much-needed muscle to the job Sept. 8.

Weighing heavily is just about 90 miles southwest, the Binghamton and Endicott areas are flooding thanks to Hurricane Lee. So many counties and communities have been flooded. Thank goodness so many unions, community agencies and people are helping.

Powerful pictures. Heartening to see so many volunteers from all walks of life. Today at a 9-11 memorial service at NYSUT we were all asked to dedicate this weekend as a weekend of service in memory of all who lost their lives, and all who helped after the terrorist attacks.
