Here’s the breakdown statewide that gets you to 7,667.87 workers who have been laid off from their jobs in public education,

  • 5,660.19 pre-Kindergarten -12th-grade teachers
  • 1,939.68 School-Related Professionals
  • and 68 community college faculty

Those figures are based on various reports from school districts and they continue to change change.

Let’s not forget, those layoff numbers are lower due to sacrifices by workers, and the retirements of 3,952 workers whose jobs will not be filled.
