Lessons from Wisconsin that every working family should learn

“Working people did not create the recession or the budgetary crisis facing federal, state and local governments,” says Rose Ann DeMoro of the California Nurses Association today in the Huffington Post.

Even as the recession wreaked its toll on working families, DeMoro notes, corporate profits in the third quarter of 2010 soared to $1.6 trillion – 28 percent higher than the same period a year earlier.

And in Wisconsin, now the cauldron of activism for labor rights, two-thirds of the corporations pay NO taxes even as the governor pushes to slash services and end collective bargaining.

The reality is that corporate profits are thriving in these hard times – one of eight points that every working family should know as outlined in DeMoro’s must-read article.
