UCE of FIT in the house!

Okay, so Roberta Elins didn’t make it INSIDE the White House, but here’s the executive vice president of  United College Employees of The Fashion Institute of Technology  making strides down in D.C. The local just sent me pics. Check them out on NYSUT’s Flickr site.

Like many NYSUT locals, the UCE of FIT does a great job. Members walked in Central Park, on Long Island and Elins in D.C. I don’t know yet how much the teach raised but Elins and adjunct faculty member Rena Sussman Silverman both earned “Pacesetter” status by individually raising over $2,500. Way to go girls!

Silverman and Ellen Goldstein Lynch, who captains the Long Island team are cancer survivors.

Union President Juliette Romano, President of the Union, noted how proud she is that “the makeup of TEAM UCE of FIT’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer team reflects the wall-to-wall coverage of the Collective Bargaining Agreement,” including classroom and non classroom faculty, adjunct faculty and classified staff members.

Actually, I DID make it inside the White House grounds for a tour of the gardens. The total sum raised by Team UCE of FIT was $12,639.71.
